Full-time at The Beeches: Tividale 0-3 Wythenshawe Town.

Tividale suffered a disappointing 3–0 defeat at The Beeches against Wythenshawe Town, on an afternoon where an early red card left the hosts with a mountain to climb. The game’s defining moment arrived after just 20 minutes when Tividale were reduced to ten men following a DOGSO offence inside the penalty area. Wythenshawe converted the resulting spot kick to take a 1–0 lead and completely change the complexion of the contest. From that point, Tividale faced the difficult task of playing the remaining 70 minutes a man down. To the players’ credit, the group continued to compete, stayed in the game and worked hard to prevent the visitors from extending their advantage. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Tividale remained within touching distance for much of the contest and continued to believe there could be an opportunity to get something from the game. However, the workload of playing with ten men eventually began to take its toll. Wythenshawe doubled their advantage in the 70th minute when a deflected ball caught the Tividale defence out, leaving the visitors with the opportunity to make it 2–0. At that stage, both the energy levels and belief that there was a route back into the game began to disappear. The visitors added a third in the 92nd minute. Tividale lacked the energy to close down quickly enough on the edge of the penalty area, allowing Wythenshawe the space to produce an excellent strike and complete the scoring. There were circumstances within the game that undoubtedly made the task significantly more difficult, but ultimately it was neither the result we wanted nor a performance we can be proud of. Playing 70 minutes with ten men required character and resilience, and there were periods where we showed both, but we also have to take responsibility for the moments that put us in that position and for how the game eventually got away from us.
